Revamping to suit your style.

Revamping is to modernise a fashion from history. The key is creative revamping begats new fashion trends! Just as everything has its history so does fashion. Fashion has being since man felt the need to cover up. But fashion became a seroius business as far back as the 18th century and even farther. The era women were compelled to wear dresses weighing tonnes.
But fashion does have it cycles and phases. Charles Federick Worth(1857) of the 19th century known to as the father of haute couture, a french designer at the time was the first to introduce fashion shows to showcase his designs on live models to his highly respected clients. Fashion has indeed changed from decade to decade, but really in the world of fashion, most of the new trends seen are just recreations and modernization of past fashion trends. The mini-skirts form the 70s are now being revamped today as the peplum skirts/bandage skirts. The short colourful and bright dresses from the 1960s are on a comeback right now with the fashion trend moving towards a more colourful approach.

This is a modern Harem pants

1990s Mc Hammer pants

So the harem pants is like a revamp of the then popular mc hammer pants that dominated the 90s. Now being able to move with the changes in the fashion world and yet retain your style is what makes you a fashion leader!

So are you worried about that dress, skirt or pants you have and seems outdated but you love so much? no shouldn't. All u need do is let that artistic power in you surface, get out your scissors or needle and thread and let your style speak for you, or just add a belt or scarve. You could give it to a seamstress to help adjust it if you are not feeling upto it so you dont end up ruining it all. You might just be the pacesetter of the next fashion trend ;). I remember when i was very little and my dad used to wear ankara (African print) shirts on jeans, my siblings and i used to tease him and laugh at his awkward style, but the funny thing is just few years later everybody was doing it. So dear fashioninstas, do live your style and be comfortable and strut in it.

#Designer's corner: What is a designer worksheet? The designer worksheet contains records on all styles as developed. The designer fills the worksheet on information of every design made which guides the production in figuring cost, ordering fabrics and trimmings. The information includs; Design dates, selling season for the garment designed, sizes it will be made in, style number, short description of garment, working sketch of garment, colurs the garment would be available in, type of fabric to be ued, material descriptions, marker width, trimming information and labour cost.

Are you fed up with all what your tailor sews for you? They just dón't fit you as you expect them to? Well then, watch out for my next post; "Tailor Horror". ciao.
